After the latest solar panel grants cuts news, the government has announced that it expects to see four million homes across the UK powered by solar energy by 2020.
22 Gigawatts of Solar Energy Generated from Solar Panels in UK…
The ambitious estimate which claims that 4 million homes will be generated by solar panels in 2020 came on the back of an announcement that cuts will be made to the current subsidy in March of this year. The cut will greatly reduce the amount of money households receive for the energy they generate and thus, some doubt figures will rise as high as estimated.
The government predicts that at least 6250,000 households will install solar panels by 2015, despite the cuts because the price of components and installation will fall. By 2020, the government believes that the UK will generate 22 gigawatts of solar power however, only 1 gigawatt has been generated since the Feed-In Tariff was introduced in April 2010.
Under the proposed plan, the Feed-In Tariff rate will be cut twice a year as the price of solar panels falls. This estimate is in the middle of the range of ministers predictions and is much energy as is produced by ten large power stations.
As the race to install solar panels in time for the March deadline continues, many homeowners are choosing to use price comparison sites like SolarPanels-Prices.co.uk which offers three competitive quotes from trusted suppliers.
